Direct Primary Care
COMING SOON TO HOUSTON, TEXAS · EARLY 2027
Primary care for Black women, reimagined.
Direct Primary Care: healthcare built around you, not your insurance
I'm building a practice where you get real time with your doctor, real access when you need it, and care that treats you as a whole person, not a 15 minute checklist.
This is Direct Primary Care (DPC): a membership based model that removes insurance companies from the exam room so we can focus on what actually keeps you well.
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is a membership model where you pay a flat monthly fee directly to your doctor's practice, no insurance billing, no middleman deciding what care you're "allowed" to have. In exchange, you get direct access to me: longer visits, same or next day availability, and a relationship built over years, not one rushed appointment at a time.
It's not insurance, and it's not meant to replace it (more on that below). Think of it as your relationship with your primary care doctor, restored to what it should be.
Why this is different and better
Direct access to me. Call or text me directly with questions, concerns, or when something doesn't feel right, not a nurse line, not a portal message queue.
30 to 60 minute visits. Enough time to actually talk through what's going on, ask questions, and leave with a real plan, not a rushed, symptom only conversation.
Whole person care. We look at your full picture: sleep, stress, nutrition, family history, mental health, not just the one thing you came in for.
Built for prevention, not just reaction. Catching and managing risk early (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, family history) is how we actually prevent disease, instead of just treating it after it shows up.
Real partnership with chronic disease. If you're living with diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune conditions, or anything ongoing, you get a doctor who actually knows your case, not one who's meeting you for the first time every visit.
Fast answers for everyday illness. Colds, UTIs, STD testing, and other things you'd normally sit in urgent care for, with a provider who doesn't know you and a bill you didn't see coming. With DPC, you text me instead.
No insurance company between us. I make recommendations based on what's right for you, not what a payer will approve.

Focus
A note on cost: DPC isn't about avoiding cost, it's about knowing your cost up front and spending less on the things that add up: urgent care visits for things that could've been handled with a same day text, ER visits for non emergencies, and specialist referrals that could've been avoided with earlier, more thorough primary care. Many members find that reduced lab and imaging costs, fewer surprise bills, and less wasted time off work make this model pay for itself over the long run.
Do I still need insurance?
Yes. DPC replaces your everyday primary care experience, it does not replace insurance. You'll still want coverage for:
In depth labs and imaging beyond what's included in your membership
Specialist visits
Prescription medications
Emergency care and hospitalizations
I'll help coordinate all of that. DPC just means the relationship at the center of it all is finally built around you.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, and it's still important. DPC covers your primary care relationship (visits, access, prevention, chronic disease management), but you'll still need insurance for in depth labs, imaging, specialist referrals, medications, and emergency care.
-
Not at this time. DPC practices have specific rules around Medicare participation, and I'm not able to accept Medicare patients for this service currently. I'll update this if that changes.
-
No. DPC is a cash pay membership model, that's what allows for longer visits and direct access without insurance restrictions. Your monthly membership fee covers your primary care relationship with me, and includes reduced cost labs, certain imaging, and virtual appointments.

I'll be seeing patients in person in Houston starting early 2027. Free consults are available now if you'd like to learn more or ask questions in the meantime.
-
This depends on current tax rules, which have been shifting for DPC arrangements. I'd recommend checking with your HSA/FSA administrator or tax advisor closer to enrollment.

My virtual services (mental health support, clinical second opinions, weight & metabolic wellness, and residency prep consulting) are telehealth based and available now, wherever you're located in Texas. -
Anyone who's tired of rushed visits, long waits for appointments, and feeling like a number in the system, especially people managing chronic conditions, or anyone who wants a doctor who actually has time to listen and think alongside them.
-
Yes. Prevention is a core part of this model, catching things like high blood pressure, blood sugar changes, and family history risk factors early, before they become chronic conditions. You'll also have same day or next day access when something unexpected comes up, including things like colds, UTIs, and STD testing, without a wait or a surprise bill.
-
Yes, if you live in Houston, Texas. You'd also be eligible for a discount on your virtual services as a DPC member (exact details to follow).
